What does the treatment involve?

We work over an area of the tattoo in a series of small dots using a needle similar to a tattoo needle introducing the natural Kataderm Fluid. The area treated looks like small chicken pox scabs which are covered with a light gauze for one hour. After this the gauze is removed allowing the treated area to dry out and for the scabs to drop off naturally. An aftercare leaflet and advice will be given.

Does the treatment hurt?

It feels about the same or slightly less than when you had your tattoo put on. If you found this painful then you may find the removal uncomfortable. Our feedback is that it is a lot less painful than laser removal.

What will the skin look like?

The treated area will be covered in small scabs which will drop off over 3-20 days. After this the treated areas look quite pink so we leave time for this to heal before re treating. By treating small areas we are not over loading the body and healing is quicker.

How long does the treatment take?

The length of treatment is determined by the size of the tattoo. Smaller tattoos take 15 minutes to treat per visit. Larger tattoos can be treated for up to one hour in one sitting. It may take another sitting to treat an extremely large tattoo.

How much will it cost?

Treatment is charged per 15 minutes worked. Please contact the individual clinic for details of charges.

Is there an alternative?

The only real alternative is laser removal. This is an expensive, aggressive and not entirely effective method of removal, being unable to deal with all colours of tattoos, and has a reputation of leaving ink, scarring and pigmentation problems. There is also some concern about the toxins of the tattoo ink being pushed into the skin during laser removal. The Tattoo Erase treatment works in a different way by drawing out the ink and therefore eliminating this problem.

How will I know if I am suitable for treatment?

The initial consultation will determine this. There are not many contra indications to treatment. If you had no ill effects during or after your tattoo you should be suitable for treatment unless you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

We can even treat you if you have already tried alternative removal methods, but a patch test will be recommended on your first visit.

How often should I have a treatment?

Clients must leave a minimum of 8 weeks between each treatment. The skin remains pink once the scabs have dropped off and this skin must be allowed to heal before another treatment is performed.

Will it leave a scar?

We know there is a risk of scarring with our treatment. However other previous removal methods, and even having the tattoo itself, can cause trauma to the skin leaving a scar. This scarring is not always evident until the coloured pigment of the tattoo is removed. You will be fully counselled on the risks of scarring at your consultation.

Clients who have had many previous laser sessions on their tattoo may be treated but may find that the skin may be left lighter after the Tattoo Erase treatment. You will be fully counselled about this at a consultation and a patch test may be offered.

Tattoo Erase can restore the skin to virtually its pre-tattoo condition providing the client adheres to the aftercare advice given. You could even have another tattoo put on once the old one has been removed!

What types of tattoo can be treated?

All ages, sizes and styles of tattoos can be removed. Our treatment does not recognise the colour of the tattoo only the ink. Older tattoos can be more stubborn due to the depth they may have gone, sometimes some traces being too deep to remove.

And don’t forget, Tattoo Erase can be successful where Laser treatment hasn’t worked.
