TATTS OFF 2010

a nationwide search for those tattoos that people wish they could just erase for good.

Tattoo Erase’s managing director, Richard Simpson-Birks, explains;

"Tattoo Erase is a natural process using natural products. Until now, laser treatment, or Dermabrasion, (wearing away the skin with an abrasive tool), has been the only hope for tattoo removal. Both processes have their limitations. Some colours of ink will not absorb set laser wavelengths, making the complete removal of varied colour tattoos impossible, whilst the Dermabrasion method often requires a skin graft to level out the skin.

However, Tattoo Erase restores the skin to virtually its pre-tattoo condition. It is a completely natural procedure, less painful than lasers, that is effective at removing all colours including reds, greens and yellows.

Usually, the cost of removal is not charged per tattoo but for the time treated. However, with the launch of Tatts Off 2010, we will be giving two lucky people a chance to have it removed entirely for free. Many different people come to us with a huge range of reasons for having their tattoos removed, be it simple regret, the break-up of a relationship, a new start in life or for purely cosmetic reasons.

For Tatts Off 2010 we’re simply looking for the most deserving people to put themselves forward or for a friend to nominate them. We know that for many people, removing an unwanted tattoo could make a real difference to their life. "

About the treatment

All treatments are carried out in clinical treatment rooms by fully trained and experienced therapists. The skin is treated by making a series of dots using a needle similar to the way the tattoo was applied. Instead of putting ink into the skin, we use Kataderm®, a mixture of natural products that persuade the body to expel the pigment through natural processes. Small scabs form on the treated area that fall off over a period of two weeks taking the ink with them.

Because the body is sensitive and naturally regenerative, we need to give the treated areas their own time to recover to normal before working on an adjacent area. This is a minimum of 8 weeks. The process is repeated until the entire tattoo has been treated and removed. On average a tattoo takes between 6 to 8 treatments but this will vary according to size and complexity. This removal method is of significant benefit compared to laser treatment, which breaks down the tattoo ink pigment by the application of intense heat. In these cases the burnt pigment is absorbed by the body, putting consequential trauma and strain on the body's excretory systems.

10. Acceptance of the prize constitutes consent to use the winner’s name and pictures for promotional purposes.
11. No previous treatment been carried out.
12. No tattoos more than 2" across.
13. No tattoos on ankles, deltoids, breasts or intimate areas.
14. Tattoo Erase normal treatment criteria be adhered to.
15. Normal consultation and assessment to be carried out.
